Hello Purple. I'm here to discuss the format we're using for the new episodes. Putting them together is starting to become a little problematic. It makes listing episodes on the characters articles a little confusing for the viewer. So would it be alright if we made the change to have them separate pages? I think the wiki would benefit from it.
I was wondering how this wikia will approach the fact that the new episodes are technically two episodes combined.
Are we going to write one page for the entire episode or two pages for each individual episode?
I haven't created the page for the first episode yet because I am uncertain if I should make a page for the entire episode or two seperate pages for both of them.
Can you please let me know which course of action you would prefer me to undertake?
They're each half that, 11 minutes each.
The show clearly separates them, because Friendship House starts with it's own Title card.
But they do have a consistent plot, Friendship House continues on directly from where Welcome to Heartlake City ends.
Based on your answer, I created one page for both episodes.
Please let me know if this format is suitable, because I may have to use it again if they keep making the episodes like this.
I assume they wanted to launch the series in the same year as the toys came out, as a form of advertising.
It's definitely unusual for Australia to be one of the first launch countries, we are usually one of the last.
It's a bit unusual but I've seen this before with Ninjago, sort of. It was a double-length pilot episode and the first led right into the second, but it is often divided into two episodes with unique titles.
Ah, an Australian release. Again, Ninjago's latest season was way released earlier than anywhere else (a full 3 months before America). I'd heard from other Australians that you often get them later.
It depends on the show in question, the most popular ones can be released almost as soon as the Americans get them.
I think it's the viewers who are controlling the appeal of shows, or at least the department who thinks it is best to appeal to the largest demographics.
Unfortunately, that tends to exclude my favourites, which aren't the most popular.
Case in point, I've been looking for years to get a full season of a children's tv series called Wild Kat and it's simply not available.
Now consider the fact that I live in the country that created the show and you get how weird that is!
You seem to have a huge interest in children's shows. Ever watched the originally French but made English cartoon Lolirock? I recently watched the first season. It only ran two seasons, but I really like what I've seen of it.
I've always been drawn to children's tv series for as long as I can remember.
I eventually figured out it was because they were more genuine, a show targeted at adults tends to be less so.
It's hard to explain, but a children's show will primarily be about the fun factor while a production crew for an older demographic seem to have lost touch with their fun factor creative abilities.
Mysterious Cities of Gold and Les Mondes Engulfis (The Engulfed Worlds, although English viewers know it as Spartacus and the Sun beneath the Sea) were the first French2English shows I watched. Cities of Gold recently got a second season, that must be some kind of record, 10 years or more to get season two! Still waiting for them to release that here.
Miraculous Ladybug is a more recent French2English production I have become interested in. According to the information on the internet, they've got some interesting/exciting changes planned for season 2.
I think as a whole, most shows that are translated to English don't become popular over here, I've certainly never heard of the one you referenced.
I've been putting that down to the demographic appeal problem I referenced above, when I was a child, they had lots of international cartoons, now there's hardly any.
More genuine... That's a good way to put it. It's hard for me to say which I really enjoy more, for I've never watched a lot of TV. The main ones I watch are the Lego shows.
To be honest, I'll sit around and watch any decent, clean cartoon. Just the other day I was babysitting three younger children and I rather enjoyed watching a show called Spirit: Riding Free with them. It's basically a spinoff of the DreamWorks movie Spirit. Though some details of the main characters had me a bit confused, it's a cute show.
I'm a bit cautious when it comes to DreamWorks, because they've been swinging and missing a lot lately when it comes to their productions.
How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Kung Fu Panda 3 failed to meet my standards for quality sequels, so I lost interest in those movies.
The How to Train Your Dragon tv series is still quite good though, so it's worth watching in my opinion. Also waiting for the next season of that to be released here.
They did a Monsters Vs Aliens series, but while amusing and interesting, you can definitely tell they weren't really putting their full effort into it. And they didn't make a second season of that show.
There's also a Croods animated series, I rather liked that one. Another one I am waiting for season 2 of.
Most Dreamworks movies aren't interesting to me, but there are two upcoming ones that will be: Me and My Shadow The Croods 2
I am hoping they don't have sequel failure with the Croods movies series.
Most movie sequels struggle to live up to the original... Take Despicable Me 3 as an example. It tried a bit too hard to be as good and funny as the first two, and fell a bit short. Still enjoyable, especially for my dad since the 80s were his days XD
Like I said, I don't watch much TV. I loved HtTYD but I haven't seen the second. I've only seen little bits of the Kung Fu Pandas, it's never quite held my interest.
what movie I'm looking forward to is the Lego Movie sequel (I have seen its exact title but I forgot it) XD
Despicable Me is a movie series I am highly conflicted about.
For the positive aspects, I like Gru, Margo, Edit, Agnes and Lucy as the main characters.
For the negative aspect, the Minions never resonated well with me, because they were so ludicrous I could never take them seriously and they kept stealing the plot focus away from the main characters.
The third Despicable Me movie has me concerned with the way it ended, it looks like it was written specifically to remove my favorite characters. It just won't be the same without the main characters, so if that's how the next instalment is planned, then I've lost interest in the movie series continuing.
I did like the 80s references though, it was hilarious to see a villain stuck in the past because those were his glory days and he didn't want to stop reliving them. And since I was there for about half of the 80s, I do get some of the references.
The next one I am looking forward to seeing is the Incredibles 2. This was always my favorite Pixar movie.
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.
I wonder if they'll actually put the Lego Friends into it this time. The only reference we get in the first movie is when we see Mia when Wyldstyle is doing her expostionary dialogue about the different worlds. Apparently Heartlake City is one of those worlds.
But with the reboot currently starting up, will the movie use the reboot version or the old version? It might be confusing to casual viewers who don't know about the change to see a completely different Mia. But as far as I can tell, the reboot toy still looks like Mia, so the change may not be that drastic. And since the Lego movie is based around the toys, they won't be showing the animated versions.
At least the scale difference isn't so significant as to make it weird:
The Minions do end up taking the spotlight quite a bit. But I never got the feeling that they would remove the Gru family from any continuation of the series.
Well, there's actually two Friends references. I can't remember where, but on a road sign in Bricksburg you can just barely make out "Heartlake City". Then during Wyldstyle's thing you see the Sunshine Ranch set.
It looks like they've announced Despicable Me 4.
What is mainly giving me misgivings is the way number 3 ends, the Minions all quit working for Gru and go to work for his twin brother Dru because Gru isn't being evil enough for them.
Which sounds like a plot specifically contrived to remove Gru and his family so it's just Dru and the Minions in the next movie.
I wanted to get some screenshots of the Friends references in the Lego movie to upload here, but unfortunately I haven't found any youtube sources of the relevant video sequences to do so.
What I do is play the video from youtube and press the screenshot buttons when the right frame appears.
This only works with youtube videos and some corporate/official streaming sites.
Hello Purple! I have a question for you concerning an article's title. So, there is a character called Ethan included in Emma's Art Café (41336) however, on the box he is called Ethan but in the set's description he is referred to as Prankzy. I would be more inclined to go with simply Ethan and mention in his profile that he is also Prankzy. A fun fact explaining that he is referred to as Prankzy in the set's description may also be an idea. But either way I wanted to get your opinion on the title (I'm waiting for your response before I make the article).
So I was browseing the wiki earlier this week & noticed that we don't have any Discussions Moderaters. So I went to the page detailing what each role does (http://legofriends.wikia.com/wiki/Help:User_Rights) & I felt that I would be suited to this role. I then clicked on the link that was given on the Admins page to apply, but it just led me to the discussions of the wiki, and there wasn't one I could see for applying. So I suppose this post of mine is in ways my application (it took me a while to pluck up the courage to make this), but if you create a place to apply & would rather I did it there then I'll do that. And also if there is anything else required for becoming an Admin/Discussions Moderater then please let me know.
I feel this wiki needs a Discussions Moderater because I have seen some pretty terrible comments by fandom users, from garbel-de-gook to calling eachother dumbheads. Therefore I would very much like to contribute to this wiki by not only editing articles but also protecting the comments section from spam & hurtful comments.
Sorry for not talking to you lately - school, school & school!!! I'd like to ask you if you take as good idea to make this: On the top of the page is THE LEGO FRIENDS, and when you go on it, there are the Friends, okey. What would you say if we made a... sub-categories Emma (2012-2015), Emma (2016-2017) and Emma etc.? It'd may be better than put a link on one to two others (is it understandable? xD).
What do you mean 'got into it'? I added the category Vehicles to other pages, but that doesn't mean the category page has been made. Also, should we be adding everything like cars, vans, bikes, horse trailers, motorbikes, boats & planes or just cars & vans? And would Sets like the Grand Hotel count, since it includes a vehicle (the taxi) but the taxi is a very small part of it?
Hi @Purple! Recently I spotted a few articles that I think need to be deleted. But obviously I don't have the power to do that & even if I did I would consult you first. So I'll go through them here.
1. SY151C Stephanie's Pet House: This is a page for a set that doesn't exist. I checked the BrickSet database for the set but the closest thing I could find was Stephanie's Pet Patrol (which includes a bunny, not a cat).
2. YouTube: This one I'm not so sure on. It seems like a page that is completely unnecessary, but at the same time it might just need a lot of work.
3. 3942 Heartlake Dog Show: This is a duplicate page to Heartlake Dog Show (3942). It was the weaker of the two so it seemed like the better one to be deleted.
4. 41127 Amusement Park Arcade: Like the article above this is a duplicate page, to Amusement Park Arcade (41127). This one lacked some of the images it needed, & was therefore weaker.
I hope this proves useful. I removed links to all of these pages & also removed there categories so as to not complicate a deletion. Please let me know what you plan to do with these pages.
Thank you for bringing these articles to my attention! It makes my job a lot easier, especially with my currently busy schedule.
1. I don't know, I'm pretty sure the set does exist, it's just not available in most countries. There used to be a pic of the set on the article...
2. Is that thing still there? I thought I'd deleted it already.
3&4: Yeah, I'll delete those. When I went through and changed the set article titles from "[set number] Set Name" to "Set Name (set number)" I did my best to avoid duplicates, but I guess I didn't do it as well as I thought.
Ah, promotional item! That was the term I was looking for. I think it used to have more info on it... I will check through the page's edit history.
I can't think of any articles in desperate need of attention right now, but I'm sure there's plenty. One thing I know we need is more articles on the 2018. It won't be long before we get news on the summer sets and we have very little on the newest ones.
Oh OK. I just thought that since we don't create the pages for future sets before we get pictures we didn't need it.
Also, could you possibly put the usual protection on the Stephanie (2012-2015) article, it is no longer under construction.
So, there is also The Only Set With 5 Minifigs which isn't really the type of set we generally add to the Wiki. Because it's a product collection of the 5 Friendship Followers sets. So I think (?) it should be deleted.
I may have to examine it again in more detail then to see if I can get the desired result.
If I can't change the colors, I may have to do it myself, take the screenshot to an image editing program and customise it that way.
See here for my opinions on the subject of the new look.
Read the comments section at the end of the blog, my posts are near the top.
Hi Purplebrick! I need a little help. I recently updated Stephanie's Cool Convertible (3183) to have an infobox & gallery. But when it came to the positioning of the infobox it wasn't quite in the right place compared to other set pages. Would you know of any way to change its position on the page? The picture in the gallery isn't quite where it should be either.
Go to "Source" mode and make sure the infobox code is at the top of the page.
And for the image, when you add it, it should give you the option of putting it to the left or to the right side of the page. If you are fixing an image that's already there, go to source and add "|left" in between the size "|250x250" and the caption.
Some time ago, I was inspired to create a little mini-comic with my Lego minifigures with Mia in the starring role.
I thought I should check if uploading this image is allowed, so I can put it in my blog entry.
I am asking for clarification because wikias have different rules about fan created content, some don't permit it at all, some only on the user's personal pages and others allow it anywhere (within moderation) as long as it's stated that it isn't official material (to avoid confusion). Buckmana (talk) 03:37, March 30, 2018 (UTC)
So long as it's clean and stays on your profile page or in blogs, any Friends fan content goes! I'd love to see this mini-comic! If you check out my userpage, there's a wall of art I've drawn and a couple screenshot edits.
Thanks for confirming the policy query about fan created content.
I have now uploaded my minicomic and created the associated blog.
To get the unspoken joke, it will require having seen the Frozen animated movie.
I wondered if uploading the file would cause the uploader to lockout, because I tend to create high resolution fanart and sometimes this causes the image uploader to crash.
I have looked at your profile art page a few times.
Mostly I was wondering where that CGI image came from.
I am curious because I don't know if there are many Lego Friends programs, the only I know of is a mobile device minigame I got from my iTunes store.
