A few days ago, someone edited their user page with an image of a CGI character I did not recognise.
Then some more of that character were added.
Today, I noticed a whole page had been created using that image and other similar ones for the purposes of vandalism: https://legofriends.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/Pranksy
Since none of these contributions are factual or canon, I think it's clear this user only came here to edit for the purposes of creating vandalism.
And that's worthy of being blocked in my opinion.
I found the other vandal account with the same subject matter: https://legofriends.wikia.com/wiki/Message_Wall:Twgtgbegvqaq
Most likely whomever this is created a duplicate account to commit more vandalism.
If there's any similar activity from this user on the same subject, they would most likely need blocking as well.
Well, that's interesting. I blocked the IP address of the user, which should have prevented the use of duplicate accounts... He must be capable of not using the same one each time. Those users are really difficult to stop.
It looks like this wikia is being targeted for active vandalism.
It happens to them all eventually, it just must be this one's turn.
According to TheMime, this user has been consistently posting the same spam message: https://legofriends.wikia.com/wiki/User:Drafor
I just hadn't noticed before now because the messages were deleted before I saw them in the activity list.
Because there are no indications this user ever intends to make constructive edits, it would be advisable if they are permanently blocked from this wikia with an infinite duration ban.
Hi. I would just like to point out that, even though it is mentioned on the same thread, this time no account under my home's IP address is involved. This is actual vandalism, not a stupid prank by my immature brother (He is still banned from the computer, you see). I agree that this person should be permanently blocked.
Look Purple I am trying to make this be correct all of the songs are not just performed by Andrea there are by L2M, Sarah West, and Nadia Gattas but TheMime005 is just doing it all wrong. I'm sorry about that. I am just doing the right thing but to fix this signed Nickwikipedia.
That's good that you're trying to put in the right information, but according to TheMime, who is someone I know and trust, you've been fighting her every correction. I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly what has happened from the edit history, but things can't continue like this. I suggest you politely discuss your problem with TheMime, and work things out between you. If that doesn't work, I will handle it.
If you've been watching the activity on the song pages you'll notice there have been a lot of changes. Somewhat constructive changes if you will. And these edits were made be Nickwikipedia and several anonymous users, including this one.
Now, there are some problems here. While the first edits they made were constructive (adding the real people who wrote and performed the songs) they are now repeatedly adding hyperlinks to these people. Hyperlinks that will never lead to a page. I tried explaining this to them through edit summaries, but they didn't listen.
Now, if it was just this I'd probably leave a message on their wall explaining things. But last night when I checked the recent activity I noticed this was the edit summary for one of the anonymous users edits: Please leave this page alone TheMime005 everyone else thinks that is correct. And then I saw that the anonymous user had left three messages on my wall telling me to stop editing the pages. But then Nickwikipedia went to the anonymous user's wall and left two mildly threatening messages, saying they would block them if they didn't leave the pages alone (which they probably did it realise that can't actually do that).
I'd say they are probably the same person. But what I don't understand is the messages on the anonymous user's wall. I can only presume that they were meant for me. But it all seems very strange.
I wanted to make you aware of this situation so you could take the necessary action against them. I think they should be blocked for a time, but I'm sure whatever you see fit will be the right choice.
This isn't going to be a pleasant topic, but I felt I had to notify you of the situation in case the vandal comes here.
A specific vandal has chosen me to annoy across at least two wikias and they may arrive here at some point to continue their conflict.
If they do so, will you block their account and delete their comments?
The reason that may be aware of this wikia as one of my most visited is because it was displayed in my header bar, although I have disabled this feature now as a security precaution.
I'm sorry to have to bring you the report of this unfortunate situation, as I'd hoped the dispute would just quietly fade away instead of intensifying in severity.
Please check your website mailbox at your earliest convenience.
The rhyme reminds me of a minor villain in an animated show, he was a failed singer because he kept trying to write rhyming lyrics, but the running gag was that he could never figure out what the last word was, even though it was easy.
So even without intending to, you're better at it then he is!
I'm trying to find some online clips of the minor villain I described, so you can see the scenes for yourself I described.
Trust me, watching them is a lot funnier then reading a text transcript.
The show in question is experiencing much the same problems as Lego Friends is in Australia, that it's not a network favorite, therefore it's hardly ever shown.
I only got to see the episode I described above because it was sent interstate to my DTV box and it wasn't hosted very long.
That also happens to Lego Friends episodes by the way.
Also, the show is only received well in Australia, because one of our local production companies makes the cartoon.
According to the research I did, this show is not so popular internationally, even though it was made to be distributed outside Australia as well.
Kuu Kuu Harajuku.
The episode I described is Bye Bye Baby, episode 2 of season 3.
It most likely isn't available internationally yet, as I only saw it a few weeks ago.
I couldn't find any clips of the rhyming challenged minor villain, probably for that reason.
It's quite infuriating sometimes when I try to find copies of Australian shows I want for my personal/permanent collection and they've never been offered for sale.
You'd think living in the country that makes them would ensure that they're easy to find for retail purchase.
Sometimes even international shows aren't easy to obtain.
I think my choices for televised entertainment are either shows that end up prematurely cancelled or aren't popular enough to get major promotions.
The cancellation ones frustrate me most, because they always cancel them before they make the final chapter of the story.
It's definitely made for cute appeal, but there are times when you know it's not a kiddies' show.
For example, the character Music has temper control issues and there's one episode where she's so angry with Rudie he's genuinely afraid of her!
And then she gets a chainsaw and starts running around scaring mutant weed monsters.
Basically, it's a show about a musical band who often ends up battling the forces of evil by accident.
Or in the case of the rhyming minor villain, on purpose, since his boss (the greatest villain in the show) is trying to defeat the band because they're fun and he doesn't like fun.
They also don't sugarcoat that guy, it's known he's genuinely menacing.
The majority of the show is about the crazy hijinks the band gets into trying to become musical superstars.
Because everytime they try to perform a concert, the forces of evil shows up to interrupt their performance or sometime else really bizarre happens.
The running tagline is:
HJ5, the hit band without a hit song.
At around the end of season 2, that changes though, they actually manage to complete a concert successfully and that's when they start putting in the music a bit more.
Here's my favorite HJ5 song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Km4vkdYYXM (Dancing in the Sunlight).
Ignore the live action/non HJ5 animations, the song itself was longer then the parts we see in the episode, so the video uploader had to replace those parts with something.
Now that I'm thinking about it, this is another show with an odd numbered lead cast, although technically, there are seven cast members counting Rudie and R.O.D.
I liked the song! It made me think a lot of the originally French cartoon, Lolirock, where three girls who constantly have to fight evil and get it done before that night's concert, haha. The show is on YouTube if you ever want to check it out.
I think this user is quitting because they didn't like that they got punished for vandalising certain pages on the wikia.
I've seen this a lot, contributors who think any kind of a moderation isn't allowed because it's unfair and they just want to act unpleasantly without being restricted by rules.
Rules to which they agreed to when joining the wikia by the way.
Cool I just have pieces, someone, my friend, don't play with Lego friends anymore, that's why she gives us her Legos friends and it had the dolphins cruiser, but she lose a lot of pieces. Look now our dolphins cruiser:
Hello Purple! First, welcome back again! I had a couple of ideas for the Wiki that I wanted to talk to you about.
I was thinking, maybe we could do with adding a little more to set pages? When we add a set description, we generally leave out the line that gives the measurements of the set. Maybe we should add these? The LEGO Elves Wiki does this, so here's an example.
The main page is a little outdated. I know you're not a fan of the reboot, but maybe we could update the home page to reflect the reboot? I was thinking you could simply update the images for the friends, along with the group picture (I have some pics in mind for the individual shots). And then maybe you could also update the poll and featured article. The only other thing that's out of date is the bit where you talk about New Years resolutions, so maybe that could be changed too.
But what do you think?
P.S. I forgot to mention this in my add on message about unregistered users, but Evil24 was only blocked for a month, so it's possible they will come back.
Oh, and one more thing. I've found a heap of redirect pages. None of them are linked to anywhere, so could they be deleted? I'm not sure what the routine is with redirect pages, and whether or not they need to be deleted, but I'll link them here anyway: (LIST IS NOW OBSOLETE)
1. I'm perfectly fine with that! The only reason I don't put more on most pages is that I don't have more information to put there! Feel free to add whatever you think people would like to know.
2. Whoops, I'd totally forgotten about the main page! If you can get me some good, current images I'll definitely add them.
3. Hmm... Must be leftovers from renaming pages. I always try to make sure I don't leave behind a redirect, but it seems a bunch were made anyway... I'll try to get them taken care of soon. My internet is a bit sketchy right now because it's been raining a lot and service is not good here in rural Oklahoma.
3. Most of those were probably from me. Sorry about that. How do you rename a page withut leaving a redirect? There doesn't seem to be a button or anything. 4. Speaking of renaming, the Grand Hotel (41101) page should really be renamed to Heartlake Grand Hotel (41101). This is the correct name (it even appears like this on the box). 5. And lastly, is the page Exploring LEGO Friends 2017 necessary? I know that 2017 was was a milestone year for LEGO Friends, but it doesn't seem to really fit with the rest of the Wiki. It doesn't really add anymore new information to the Wiki, and instead feels more like a combination of LEGO Sets, LEGO Friends (Webisodes) & LEGO Friends (TV Series).
2. Thanks! I'll try to have it done over the next couple days.
3. Oh, geez... It's been too long since I've renamed an article, I would have to refresh my memory...
4. Ah, OK! That does sound better than just "Grand Hotel" but as you said that's what is on the box, so I put it there.s
5. Another forgotten project of mine, haha. I had intended to make one for every year as a way for people to see what all happened in the same year. It can be hard to tell what happened when, since only the sets are actually sorted by date.
I'll see if there's anything on community central.
Well, we can rename that once we've figured how not to leave a redirect XD
Having one for every year would definitely make more sense. The 2017 one seems a little random on it's own XD But as well as the sets, webisodes and episodes can be dated as well, so it might not be as hard as you think. I could try and do them if you want. But it would have to be after I've finished all the other stuff I'm trying to complete. At the moment I'm working on completing all set pages (adding all the images that were officially used by LEGO at shop.LEGO, adding the dimensions and now also removing possibilities.), after that's finished I want to start working on adding the plot on all the existing webisode pages, and then also create pages for the rest of the webisodes. Alongside that I want to start creating articles for the animals that still don't have articles (and that we know a little bit about, or that have appeared in several sets), and then there's also the mini movies, which deserve pages as well. Is there anything you might be able to do? Maybe the exploring pages, since you did such a great job on the 2017 one. And I can help out with adding the lists.
4. I just renamed it; it gave me the option to not leave a redirect. It could be an admin-only ability but I'm not sure.
5. If you can find accurate release dates for the other things that would be awesome! I never really knew where to look because often the ones on the Friends site never seemed right. Yeah, I'd be happy to work on the rest! It's what I'd intended to do anyway XD
4. Great! Yeah, it could be. I'll ask you to rename things from now on.
5. If you search for the webisodes onYouTube it will give you the exact release date. But for general dates Series 1 Webisodes are 2014, Series 2 is 2015, Series 3 is 2016 and Series 4 is 2017. The episodes all at least have a year, and if you search for the music videos on YouTue you'll get a year.
5. I knew generally when each webisode was released, knowing which season belonged to which year, but there's a lot of webisodes, you know? As for the episodes, I didn't know if the YouTube ones had the right date (they could have very well been published later). But thanks!
It was brought to my attention that an unregistered account/user is specifically targeting this wikia for vandalism.
In particular, they seem to be trying to erase all references to the episode The Drooling Detective, since the page content has been erased a few times and the link to it was deleted from Olivia's page recently.
Because of this vandalism, the suggestion was made that access to this wikia and editing it only be permitted by registered users, that permissions for unregistered users should be disabled so we don't have to keep fixing their vandalism.
I know for a fact there is a control function that will instantly block unregistered users from editing if enabled.
Please consider this suggestion to improve the quality of this wikia.
I'd just like to add to this. It appears this anonymous user got an account, under the username Evil24. They caused more disruption while you were away as you will see by their contributions. I reversed all their edits and @Blondwave blocked them, but I thought you ought to know.
Ah, thanks for the note! I will indeed consider blocking anonymous users from editing. I hadn't previously, because they were the majority of the people on the wiki when I first adopted it, but things have changed since then.
Hello Purple! Something weird has happened. For some reason I can access the Admin Dashboard. I have no idea why because I'm only a moderator & I haven't had access to it prior to today. Do you think something might be up?
